“I know it’s Monday, but it’s also a new day, a new week, and in that lies a new opportunity for something special to happen” – Michael Ely
How was everyone’s weekend? Ours was quiet, which is not always the case. Ryan normally bowls on Saturday in the summer. He bowls thru C.A.P.E. (Challenged Athletes Playing Equally), which is a non-profit in Murfreesboro, TN, where he lives. This organization supports special needs children and adults through sports. They teach them the rules of each game but allow each person to play at their own level. When Ryan first got involved with C.A.P.E., he played softball. He loved it, but it was hard as someone had to push his wheelchair around the bases after he hit the ball. No one minded that, but the weather did not always cooperate and Ryan does not tolerate the heat very well. So, he transferred his skills to bowling, which is in an air-conditioned environment. He uses a ramp but loves this game. He is actually pretty good. He even has his own bowling ball (a John Cena bowling ball which his nurse at the time, Paula, got him for his birthday a few years ago– “you can’t see me bowling”, haha). But, there was no bowling this past weekend as the bowling alley had scheduled a bowling tournament. That is OK. As last week was really the first full week of school, I am sure that he planned on spending the day laying in his bed watching whatever he wanted to watch on television.
Please visit C.A.P.E.’s website if you want more information (www.capetn.org).
I didn’t see much of my other grandkids this past weekend either because – well, it’s the weekend and they are busy.
Now, that it is Monday again, it is time to get motivated for the week so I hope that this picture helps everyone get going.
