Simplify, Simplify, Motivate

“Out life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify” – Henry David Thoreau

This is so true. On a daily basis, I waste a lot of time doing simple things and worrying about what did (or did not) get accomplished. In the words of a country song, “all I got to do is live and die, but I’m in a hurry and I don’t know why”.
Monday’s are supposed to be for motivation. I guess because Monday’s are hard. It is the start of a new week and sometimes represents a clean slate. Sometimes it is a struggle to get motivated. When I have this problem, I stop and think about how easy it is for me to make that choice. Then I think about all my grandchildren. I love them all and I know they sometimes all struggle with Mondays. Then I think about Ryan – who struggles on a daily basis, but for the most part, is happy. Ryan is totally dependent on other people – his mom and dad, his nurse, everyone. Stop and think about it. How would you like to be totally dependent on someone else for your every need and sometimes to not have a choice as to what you want (or don’t want) to do. It is impossible for me to comprehend. It has always been that way for Ryan, so he has never known any difference. It still doesn’t make it better.
So, on a positive note, last week was tryouts for Special Olympics Bowling. This is done through his school, but it takes place at the bowling alley where he bowls with C.A.P.E. (Challenged Athletes Playing Equally). He loves it there. So, it was only right, that his picture should be on this blog.
He gets me motivated – as to all my grandchildren. I Love them all!
